“Teenhood” Stage Reading Tonight

Join the WLHS playwriting class, and a cast of dedicated Thespians, as they present a semi-staged reading of Teenhood: The Tale of Bobby Dink & Sal. Devised over the last few month by members of the playwriting class, Teenhood explores the challenges and prejudice a high school student might face just for being “different.” Come and celebrate the accomplishments of these students! The play is recommended for ages ten and above. Entrance is free. Run time is approximately 40 minutes.

SHORTS 22 OPENS TONIGHT!

The WLHS Theatre Department presents SHORTS 22 on May 11, 12, & 13. The production will comprise two short plays and a short film, both directed and produced by students. The one-act plays are comical “whodunnits”: Murder in Little Grimley by David Tristram, directed by Ainslie O’Connor; and Any Body for Tea? by C.B. Gilford, directed by Rachel Dumas. The short film, “Is This Brownsville?”, is directed and co-written by Grace Furrow. The quirky film tells the story through the different perspectives of three small town reporters. They are tasked by their hard-nosed editor with getting the scoop on a local Beanie Baby club who have come into possession of a very rare and expensive plush toy. Each performance begins 7pm and tickets are $8. Tickets are general admission and can be purchased at the door or online (click the ticket link above).

“This Random World” Opens This Week!

Poster Design by Sierra Wilbur

West Linn High School Theatre Arts Department presents This Random World by Steven Dietz.

We want to believe that serendipity brings us together; but is that Just a myth? Mining the comedy of missed connections, This Random World asks the serious question of how often we travel parallel paths throughout the world without noticing. From an ailing woman who plans one final trip, to her daughter planning one great escape and her son falling prey to a prank gone wrong, this funny, intimate, and heartbreaking play explores the lives that may be happening just out of reach of our own.

Opening night is March 4, and the show runs March 5, 10, 11, and 12. Held in the Black Box Studio Theatre, curtain for each performance is 7pm. The production is recommended for ages 12 and up. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students, and can be purchased online at www.wlhstheatre.org. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, but will be limited due to keeping a safe capacity in the black box.
